Linda e sensual inside and out.
Before starting Buzios Skin Co., my skin used to be healthy but still had some issues like dry spots, sensitivity, and it does not matter what product I used, it would not get better. I tried several products, but I noticed that it was sensitizing my skin to the point my skin developed breakouts, and it felt like a burn; my skin was freaking out. It happened fast, and it was not going away; I stopped everything I was using. As I researched about the problems I was having, I found out a lot of people were having the same issue as me, in fact, over 60% of women have sensitized skin, Instagram/YouTube gurus and so much misinformation nowadays only make the matter worse. Women have around 5-10 skincare steps in their routine, mixing wrong ingredients in the formula, mix and match products that shouldn’t be used together, using too much of an ingredient, without knowing, because it’s repeated in other products, all of that can cause sensitization. So instead of helping, their skincare routine is damaging their skin by impairing the barrier.
I started researching about skin issues and ingredients and noticed that silicones, drying alcohols, essentials oils, fragrances, dye, and other ingredients that have been deemed to be skin irritants and should never be used in skincare (i.e., propylene glycol: used as cutting agent and solvents in lighters e-cigarettes, which is very irritant to skin, it may produce eczematous skin reactions of toxic and, more rarely, of allergic nature). These are commonly used in a lot of skincare formulations. These ingredients that are believed to trigger irritations on our skin are used in 96% of the skincare industry.
I also noticed that even brands that call themselves “Clean” besides having ingredients like I mentioned above also contain endocrine disruptors.
Endocrine disruptors are ingredients that mimic hormones causing imbalance not only in your skin but in your body.
By saying all that, I don’t believe a very small dose will be extremely harmful, but unfortunately, skincare is not the only place we are getting these toxic ingredients from; our bodies are continually receiving these from our water, food, so we are overwhelming our liver with the task to constantly clean our bodies from all toxins. Skin is the largest organ in our bodies, so if we can help our body, why not start with skincare?
I also noticed that brands have their “active ingredients” in extremely low percentages coming after water, solvents, emulsifiers and cutting agents. Another example is that they create a product to, in many ways, damage your skin and another one to fix (i.e. A cleanser that will elevate your skin to a pH of 8 or 9, then you need to use a toner, that is nothing more than a solution to bring your skin pH down and “prepare” your skin for the next steps).
Being born and raised in Brazil and knowing the potential of our beautiful Amazon forest, I focused on our superfoods. I was able to discover ingredients that aren’t used in skincare yet but that have amazing potent benefits, I was also able to develop, along with manufactures, ingredients exclusively and proprietary to Buzios Skin Co., because it didn’t exist in the market.
I did not focus on being all-natural, I concentrate on effective ingredients, non-irritant, and scientifically proven to work.
I believe dry skin, oily skin, combination skin, are not a type of skin, but a state your skin is in. Hear me out, hair, for example, you actually have a type of hair, your hair can be curly, straight, wavy…but dry hair or oily hair is a result of an imbalance in your scalp, hair follicle or other imbalances. The same thing goes for skin, I have noticed that once the skin is balanced, it will be returned to a normal state and no longer be oily, dry, acne prone, sensitive.
We call our products Skin-Compatible, the first in the market. The first thing we do is remove irritants from your skin, removing the leading cause of aging and inflammation. Then we balance your pH to the pH of healthy skin. Our blends of dozens of antioxidants, anti-aging, nourishing, hydrating, and brightening ingredients help rebuild your skin barrier and keep it healthy.
After over a year of extensive research in scientific papers and speaking with top dermatologists and biochemists, I developed a formulation that will provide everything your skin needs to thrive, reset and rebalance to be extremely healthy, replacing 10+ products with two products only, a cleanser and serum. That not only would make you feel like you have a facial at home every day but will help your skin heal and make you spend less time (and fewer excuses) to have a simple but powerful, science-backed effortless skincare routine. And that's how Buzios Skin Co. was born.
